Since Shane posted Jailbreak, Natives & Bamboo featuring "Gentle Whisper" I thought it was time for some close ups. Shane knew exactly what he wanted and it shows in the rod design. Rod is rated as a 4wt., but I am betting it will throw a 3 just as well. Very slow flowing action.

Yes! It's a beauty :D :D

Named her Gentle Whisper after a reference to God in the Bible and it sure lives up to it's name! So quiet and gentle but still has a backbone. I've tried 3wt DT and 4wt WF lines and it throws both very gracefully, much further than anticipated, and more than you need. The whole rod flows from the old school cork grip design to the tip. Simple and clean is what I like but Pete took it to another level with his eye for colors and putting it all together!

Thanks Pete!

Very nice work, Pete. I love that agate. Very defined crisp banding in it. :D :D :D

Another sweet rod, Pete. Just a gorgeous harmony of colors. Is that the Sir D 7042 taper?

And the name! Shane, I might sometime ask if i can "borrow" the name for one of my rods. "Gentle Whisper" - fits a light cane rod perfectly ( and one of my most-loved verses too).

Doug,
No Sir "D" this time. I went with a Wayne Cattanach 7042. Feels quite a bit softer than a Sir "D". Soft, but man can Shane put out the line with it. Looks like he was born to Bamboo.

Hi Doug,

Go ahead!

I told Pete he needs to come up with his Gentle Whisper line of rods! I have 7/8wt rod named Strong Tower for salmon and steelies. Raider and I name all our rods after Bible themes. He uses scriptures and I use names/references of God. I was torn between "Small Voice" and "Gentle Whisper" but GW seemed better for a grass rod.

My rods are built to fish and not hang on the wall so Gentle Whisper will be seeing lots of water. While on the water the names remind me to remember the Lord, take a break, and pray. Makes the day complete.

The reel seat is a work of art. You did an amazing job
Thanks again!

shane
