A true fast action highsticking dream rod... Designed on a AffinityX blank by CTS technologies. These blanks come in a wide variety of colors, I went with golden/olive... it has a little gold flake in the olive.. very nice.

I used spalted maple real seat insert with engraved hardware. Also, has a removable fighting butt... all this attached to a fenwick style grip (the best grib design...IMHO)

Used english bronze wire guides with rust colored wraps and 7 turn (lucky 7) white trim wraps...

Still need to rub down and burn of the tags, and apply the finish... but I had a few mintues to post so figured I would get it up.

Enjoy!

Wow, beauty of a rod, Bill.

I'd like to see some finished pics too of course. Interested to see the wraps after the finish is applied.

Are these CTS blanks the company out of NZ?

Also, it the rod designed for the fighting butt - length wise that is?

Don't think I've ever seen a fighting butt on a 3wt! I'm going to need to get my hands on that one and try out some high sticking without an indicator. Should be a great Kern rod.

The reel seat was an ebay special. I considered buying regular hardware and taking it to a local trophy shop to get it engraved...

I think Stanberry built a 3wt with a fighting butt for Zee? Last year?

The fighting butt is more for comfort when highsticking 10 hours a day. the butt will rest up against the forearm and take pressure off the wrist.. if I dont like it, I can always remove it.

Very nice build. The engraved rings are a nice touch. Very interested to hear your thoughts after you fish it. I hope to cast a 8wt CTS in the next couple of months.

Nice reel seat assembly. I really like the vintage look with the wood. That will be a fun rod to fish!

Nice looking build Bill. I like the way it all comes together and it looks very crisp with the colors you chose.
