My Dad taught me the "Davey " knot in 1960. Not sure where the name came from (Davey Wotton?, before his time). I use it on hooks smaller than #12's without a problem, nylon or flouro. its great on real small flies. Very unobtrusive, compared to a clinch or improved clinch.
