I made a fly fishing video game

Postby huntingtheriverking » August 27th, 2019, 6:49 am

Hey all,

Just wanted to share a side project I've been working on for the last several months.

River Legends: A Fly Fishing Adventure has just been released for Android and Pc (iOS coming soon).

It's a 2D, single-player, chill fly fishing game with swipe controls and pixel art environments to explore. Multiple freshwater species to catch and release, including wild trout and other cold water fish. Realistic water currents, dynamic weather effects, special bug hatches, and challenging fish AI.

If you enjoy fishing, like retro games and pixel art, or played old school fishing games (Trophy Bass, Super Black Bass, etc), then I think you will feel right at home with River Legends.

PC: https://bit.ly/2XX28ic (Free Demo available on Steam page)
Android: https://bit.ly/30n7KQi (Demo available http://www.tinyurl.com/yyhda4pv)
Website: https://www.riverlegendsgame.com

I hope you will consider checking out River Legends. It's the product of months of hard indie development work between myself and a programmer. I'm proud of the finished product and am excited to share it with you all - let me know what you think! And -- good luck landing the trophy River Legend!

Amazing good project. I used to love those retro games. I can only imagine the work, time and effort that goes into something like this. Thanks for sharing

I would totally be into it if.. you created different gear you could use like different weight/length fly rods (you'd have to create a 8' 00wt for me as I'm an ultralight/featherlight enthusiast) and make the target fish icons were much, much smaller (because I'm only used to catching wild trout no bigger then 6" you see). Do that, and I'm in !

That's pretty neat. FYI the game's website, it appears that there is no link to buy. At least it is not easily found. May want to get that changed.

Thanks, good catch, updated now. Busy couple of days marketing the release.

Appreciate all the feedback, everyone. There are multiple flies and other accessories to obtain in the in-game store, as well as a number of coldwater species to catch.

It's been a minute, but I finally brought this game to iTunes. It's optimised for iPhone and iPod Touch devices.

Super stoked as it is trending at #5 in Sports at the moment (#3 in Canada) on the iTunes charts. Big honor for it to do so well and for the support from angling and gaming community.

Also, new trailer:

New maps, new fish species, and a few other changes. Appreciate y'alls feedback!
