I am not familiar BUT if you say this is in California I'd be awestruck.

NOT in California.

Location is SW United States.

The big chunk of fallen rock is known as the Grand Piano because of its shape.

I'll post another picture later when I get home that should give it away for sure.

.....And thanks for being a sport Bill :D

Ok, I know this has to be in Arizona, somewhere up I17 or I40 corridor, at least I think........... Still don't know exactly where though.

Your logic is correct Mike. I-17 is very close.

Here's another photo that should give away the location at least.....

In the bottom left corner is the upper portion of the original photo.

Correct......Devil's Kitchen Sinkhole - Sedona, Arizona

My family had the pleasure of visiting Sedona 2 weeks ago and the place was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G (say it like Huell Howser :) :) )

Devil's Kitchen Sinkhole is on Soldier's Pass Trail heading towards the 7 Sacred Pools. Pretty cool to see.

Very cool Rob, I only got to spend one day in the area and wish I could spend at LEAST a weekend there. Do any fishing on Oak Creek or Beaver Creek while you were there? Probably loaded with swimmers worse than the Kern this time of year.

No fishing this trip Mike. I did have my gear with me, but there were just so many sites to see in our short 2 days there that the gear never hit the water.

My only experience with Oak Creek was at Slide Rock State Park. Yes, lots of swimmers :) . But a pretty cool place to spend a few hours sliding down the creek and jumping off of 12-15' rock faces into the creek.

Sedona was a beautiful place, and I hope to make it back there someday.

The train ride was pretty cool Bob. Very relaxing.

Took about 2 1/2 hours to get from Williams Depot to South Rim. Average speed was about 40 mph they said.

Shortly after the train left, the Cafe Car was opened and that kept the kids occupied with sodas and snacks :) so all was good.

I'm glad we chose to do the train instead of driving. It allowed me to see the land which you normally don't get to do when you are driving.

This part of our country was definitely not what I expected. I was expecting desert and got beautiful forest.

It was a great trip.
