Re: Just sayin'

Man, that fish has beautiful gravel marks. look at it, so pretty. I like the privatized lakes like SARL, Corona, and Hesperia. I think the DFG should end stocking in general except for light stocking in urban public parks and put all the money saved into enforcement instead. Leave the fish hatcherie...

Re: 3wt. line?

FWIW... Scientific Anglers line didn't last very well for me. It cast fine and I liked it, but it got cracked quickly and the welded loop broke. I pitched it after less than a season.

Could be my fault somehow I guess. Mine wasn't the GPX, it was the "trout" line.

Re: Indicators

I want to say guys on lakes up in BC use a system like what you are needing. I remember reading or listening about a system like this: They have an indicator which is held in place by a "peg" (pretty sure a lot of them use a toothpick). When landing a fish, you reel it all the way to the g...

Re: Fly Line Repair - Help

Cut the tip off and make a new loop I'd say, I personally like tying-thread mad loops vs. mono loops or welded loops, but that is just me.

mark's probably right about it changing the casting dynamic, but I'm personally not a good enough caster to notice those details (Mark is).

Re: Backpacking Stoves

Alcohol stoves are awesome for the weight savings. A Jetboil or similar is awesome because you can get it out, cooked, and put away before the water on an alcohol stove would even be warm....BUT its fairly heavy (1lb) and a bit on the large side (about the size of nalgene). Also, its mostly useless ...

Yes, but I was just making a joke that if you want hackle you need roosters, which WILL NOT give you eggs as you were hoping for as a bonus.

Re: Changes to striper regs.

I wonder if they have any data on how limits have changed the fisheries in the Colorado system. As I understand it, Nevada has gone to a no limit, take as many as you want. Has this had an impact on the population of whatever fish they are attempting to protect there? I don't know enough about the e...

Re: Floatants

On a side note, I had a little trouble finding a small plastic 1-2oz container with a large mouth, solvent proof and liquid tight, and am open to suggestions. Best I had was and empty plastic spice jar. Even after giving the jar a good scrubbing the floatant still came out smelling like curry. And ...

Re: Floatants

This is the same theory that I have been meaning to test... Use a light petroleum solvent to dissolve paraffin wax, possibly some other additives. Use the liquid to deposit a solid layer of the waterproof material on the fly. I think acetone will be too hard on the colors and adhesives. Also, since ...
