Re: Joining the Temporarily Disabled List

I have some severe tennis elbow in my casting arm, but have recently learned that casting with my other arm is very doable!

Re: Going to St. Maartens, Carribean. Tarpon?

Thanks BB! They sound great, especially in the "salt ponds" (land-locked lagoons) on St M that I'm told are loaded with "baby" tarpon. The ponds are pretty murky, so something splashy/noisy would probably be a good attractor. Would it stay on the surface with the Tarpon floating ...

Re: Going to St. Maartens, Carribean. Tarpon?

Thanks John, I don't think I'm going to be able to get a hall pass to spend a day with a guide, or even a half-day, but I willl try contacting him, maybe he wouldn't mind just steering me in the right direction...

Going to St. Maartens, Carribean. Tarpon?

Hi all, My wife and I are headed to St Maartens at the end of April, and she is allowing me to bring one fly rod! :-) What I hope to do is find some easily accessible shore/bay areas that I can impromptu diy for Tarpon. That way I can sneak out for an hour or two and not be neglectful of my husbandy...

Re: New rod for sure this time

Hi Joe, I think it was the Classic Trout rod (CT).

I think I got it through one of the big discounters like Sierra Trading Post.

Re: New rod for sure this time

I think a 10 foot would be a little long for backpacking and small streams, right? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Well...yes and no. Depends. If you're bushwhacking on a tiny stream that's overrun with brambles and scrub trees, then maybe yes. If you are at a lake or in a meadow (Owens River, a...

Re: New rod for sure this time

A 3wt I believe and as long as I can Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You can build one for around $60 - $100. Also Cabelas has a very nice 3wt 10' nymph rod. And I think it's in 11' too, and also in 4wt. I have the 4wt 10' and it casts really well. That rod is around 200 I believe but is often o...

Re: Tailing Gloves?

brianII, how do you put a video on this site so you watch it on this site?

When I added my video in my comment above, it takes you off the site to watch it.

Re: Tailing Gloves?

I have never seen any one use a dehooking device whilst releasing a fish, and yet that is by far the best way to handle catch & release and I use one all the time. I'd much rather see a video promoting that rather than criticizing using a glove. :Pop: Well, here ya go! Click on this video: http...

The Owens Valley is a jewel, its native culture artifacts are fascinating. I love exploring that valley!

Re: Orvis Hydros Reel Sale

I'm glad you said that Bob, I ordered the big one yesterday with 2 extra spools. I'm going for yellowtail and my budget 8 wt reel with the limp drag was not going to get the job done!
