Re: 2wt vs 3wt: Is there a difference???

Not much difference btwn a 2wt and a 3wt. One thing to consider is - which weight rod(s) do you already own? I ask because, as you build up your quiver of rods, take note that it is a bit hard to tell the difference btwn rods that are only 1 weight apart. However, it's fairly easy to feel the differ...

Re: Age old debate finally settled?

Oh, that debate. I thought you were going to answer the question - "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" or even tackle the vexing question - "Why did the chicken cross the road?" ....

Re: Newb here saying hello!

Welcome aboard Ryan. Glad you found us. There are a few of us down in the San Diego area that fish salt (both bays and beach) and that backpack. I'm in the Poway area (extreme NW corner of Poway, almost in Rancho Bernardo). I usually fish saltwater down here in San Diego as the free freshwater oppor...

Re: Suggestions for long handled boat net

Ants

Check out Measure Nets. They have some larger rubber net models that are made for use in boats.

Have fun. Can't make it this year. I'll be up in the Fresno/Madera area playing with my grandson.

Re: Good folks at the Spot

The Fisherman's Spot is a great fly shop. I always made it a point to stop in after each of my surf fishing sessions in Santa Monica. It was right on the way back to Bakersfield. Now that I live down in Poway, it's a bit out of my way but, if I ever find myself up in that neck of the woods again, I'...

Re: New etiquette for the Lower Owens.

80% of the guides are good, courteous people. That leaves 20%. If I hire him, would I get a 20% discount? ;) briansII You might not get a discount but he may get you into the best holes in the river - even if they are occupied. Just put some blinders on and don't make eye contact with the other fis...

Cue up the music from Jaws. It's time to get Bob desensitized to the imaginary dangers lurking in our local salt water bay.

Re: A July with no fishing....

beachbum wrote:You didn't fish Norway? Still, it's a beautiful place to visit. Welcome home, Richard!

Bill - I was traveling with three non-fishing family members (wife, brother and sister-in-law). We had a very full schedule and I couldn't fit any fishing in. Maybe next time.

A July with no fishing....

As July is coming to a close, I look back in wonder that I didn't get out on the water at least once. The first part of the month was spend up in Madera playing with our grandson Isaac. What a great week that was. Once home again, we ran around getting the finishing details wrapped up for a 2 week (...

Re: recommendations for waders

Wanderer wrote:I need a reccomendation for some decent tough INEXPENSIVE waders. Thoughts?

I think you can get two out of three qualifiers but if you want all three you will have to drop IN........Simms is the way to go. Buy the best you can afford and cry only once.
