Re: Welded Loops and Leader Connections

I have never had a problem with the braided loop connectors. Never had one hang up in the guides, or pull off. That being said on really small rods you can put on an over size tip top. I used one on my Midge-A-Boo and just messing with it, the loop to loop connector goes thru like a hot knife thru b...

Re: Cork Grip Selection

Ok, looking at the results of all the polls you posted it looks like everything is in place for you to build one bad a-- looking rod. I am really excited to see how it comes out. Now work your fingers to the bone and "Git her done", no sleep for you  .

Re: cant go wrong with this

You can't even buy the components to build one for that price :o . They must have a sweat shop make them and get about $.5 profit. How do they do that? Maybe prison labor.

Re: The Best Creekin' Rod

We're talking, small, intimate creeks. Something you can step over, or 99.9% of the time, never get deeper than your knees. briansII With a creek that size, who cares if it can cast 25' to 70'. Or if it is a 000000000 or 8 wt. Bow and arrow cast or roll casting of a double haul doesn't fit on the c...

Re: Who is more obsessive?

But I have to tell ya, I think it's the rod builders who are really out there. One thread misplaced, one smidgen of a streak on a coating, and they are tearing the whole thing apart and starting over. C'mon now people, I can't believe that the rod builders are coming in second. What is wrong w...

Re: Who is more obsessive?

I am obsessed with all things fly fishing but, I go overboard for rod building. I am very obsessed with every detail of a rod build. If a build isn't as close to perfect as I can get it, it drives me nuts. How many times have guides been rewrapped because they didn't look just right? Could there be ...

Re: Rod blank company

Not to be a devil's advocate or anything but, doesn't it go against fishing logic to have a long very light weight rod? Seems to me that most light rod fishing is on small streams where a long rod wouldn't be too functional. If you catch a bigger fish on water where a long rod would be workable woul...

Re: Wood Insert for Window Fly Seats that won poll

Blank color? Wrap color? Agate Stripper? If so, color? How about no insert? Just blank showing in the window. Maybe the customer's name on the blank in that location?
Ya Ya I know, I am a rod building Martha Stewart  . Carpet has to match the drapes.

Re: Vibram Vs Felt

I don't buy into the whole rubber sole wading boots being better to combat the invasive species. As long as you have any nooks and crannys on your gear you are going to be able to transport critters, if you don't take care of your equipment. That being said I would like to get a good pair of boots w...

Re: Foolproof Money Making Venture

Maybe those Gomers are huddled so close for warmth ;). No way a fish could swim thru there without getting caught. Camo waders? Maybe they fish in the morning and duck hunt in the afternoon? Either that or they are trying to hide so nobody will see their secret fishing hole. What's the buy in on thi...
