Something For Luc.....

Saw this and thought of Luc as it's getting to be that time of the year. Looks like the gal fishing is new at it and is being coached like Luc coaches me. The blowups are always something to see and more fun when the fish is tugging back at you. Here's a link..... https://venturingangler.com/2018/04...

Re: Hi I am new here

I started fly fishing in 2003 after retiring from the FD. I floundered for two years without catching a fish but made steady progress by tagging along with more experienced board members and taking casting lessons at the Long Beach Casting Club. You have some local clubs with lots of folks willing t...

Re: Rattlesnake protection

I haven't tried this but I was told that if you play Michael Jackson's song "Beat It"real loud while walking in snake country will freak them out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRdxUFDoQe0 ;) What I didn't mention that when I was in snake country with Mark Allen.....I told him I didn't ...

A life saving article

This article is from the PCT trail news letter and is about crossing streams and creeks....something we do all the time. It has some interesting points and reiterates the danger of moving water. https://www.pcta.org/discover-the-trail/backcountry-basics/water/stream-crossing-safety/?utm_source=Trail...

Re: Tying at the Brewery

We've done this down at Dana Point Harbor after a casting day competition. It's great fun. I don't drink much but the place you showed serves non ETOH as well. It's a lot of fun.

Re: Rattlesnake protection

Funny....over the years I have treated a number of Rattlesnake bites going back to the days when we used the cutter kit and cut and sucked out. 99% were on the hands or arms. Only two were on the feet or ankle. Most happened when someone reached over a log or rock while climbing a steep trail. The t...

Re: A Huge Lesson

Our new world. Very appropriate in the light of the tragic death of a 35 year veteran of two tours in Viet Nam and 30+ years active with San Bernardino County sheriff's Department yesterday. He took a single sucker punch to the head after a fender bender and died at the hospital. He was off duty in ...

Re: Season’s Greetings!

Very nice, Curtis. I wish I could write like that. I remember all the years spent in the fire station away from kids and family and the time that we could get together was that much more special. Well....you know.

Merry Christmas to all our friends who also happen to fly fish.

Re: CDFW Lands Pass...*??

This is California....they can proclaim you need this or that but they don't have the resources to monitor the fishing and hunting.....let along walking along a lagoon. Like the US Forest Service day pass, no one in the agencies put much stock in them. They just don't have the budgets.

Re: Thankful for Everyone on this Board

Well said. My wife used to say that I would meet strange men on the internet and go fishing. Along the way I have been fortunate to have been mentored by some of the best who have also become close friends. Looking forward to continuing for years to come.
