Re: Fish die-off on L Owens

Not heard about that. The article mentions laws and LADWP not following them…since when has the LADWP paid any attention to the law except where it served them? As fas as I've ever heard, they don't usually make a practice of being mindful of the law as regards their own actions.

Re: Unlimited "Jim's Mustache" Thread

Hey Jim! Do you have any family in the Santa Maria area? Maybe someone who really know his stuff on grilling Santa Maria style?

BTW, that cut he is slicing at the end of the video is called top block and it makes a fantastic meal cooked this way!

Re: Warning, Fly Fishing may be Hazardous to your health!

I don't know Mark, but after reading Curtis' story, I am feeling pretty comfy at this point. It's no joke how close my situation was, but that is pretty hairy. It was not while fishing but Matt (a lot of you know him, maybe as Cheap Stuff) had a secondary strike while playing tennis a few years ago ...

Re: Warning, Fly Fishing may be Hazardous to your health!

I don't recall Curtis' story but I had a close call my first year fly fishing. I was standing on the edge of the my local tailwater while it was raining (Feb. 2008 I think). It had been raining off and on for hours when it changed to hail. I kept fishing, all the while thinking to myself that I shou...

Re: Fishing

Glad to hear things are getting worked out Zee! Funny, just last night I was wondering what you'd been up to, how things were going and whether or not you'd be able to get a visit back here.

I hope you can make it all happen and that some others get a chance to fish with you. :D

Re: I Feel The Earth Move.........

While that fall would have been cool to witness, it would be scary to have been near when it happened. It's certainly not likely to be there when this sort of thing happens, but thanks for the reminder to be aware. It's so easy to not look up when busy fishing. Nice post Bob and cool pics.

Re: Finally Available in the United States!!!

Ha! I actually used my Seychelle bottle on each of my trips to the LO with cattle everywhere, so it''s no big deal to me. Still, as often as water filtration come up in the threads here, I really get the feeling many don't really think that this is what it means. Obviously being able to pre-filter t...

Re: Finally Available in the United States!!!

Unfortunately, taste has little or nothing to do with whether or not water is potable. Sure, it makes a difference to us when we drink it, but when needed, all that matters is that it is safe. Beers on the other hand are always safe. :D

Re: Finally Available in the United States!!!

I agree on Seychelle's cust. service. I tried them because of Dr Creek's review a few years ago. When it came time to order a replacement filter, they had redesigned the advance filter bottle. The new version was ordered and arrived with a broken filter. The new design had a plastic housing surround...

Re: Finally Available in the United States!!!

Cool, but you do know that Amazon sell them too, right? At .02 micron filter size it will filter contaminants above viral sizes.

Re: HANK IF IT WASN'T SO TRUE IT WOULDN'T BE FUNNY

When you posted the youtube link, it looked like this:\

The "v=" bit in front of the actual video code keeps it from working.
