Re: Wading Staffs

3rd what BB said. I use an old aluminum ski pole, it basically just dangles by a tether behind me in the water when I'm not using it. Now and again it gets caught in something, but it's usually very easily un-stuck. I guess I could find a shorter tether so it would get caught even less.

Re: Wading Staffs

I voted "yes" but the reality is I've only used a staff on the Kern so far, but I use it there every time now after the falls I took my first time in the river.

Re: Paso Robles flyfishing areas??

Two Saturdays ago I drove up the 101 to Salinas/Monterey and I was pleasantly surprised to see from the freeway at 75 mph what looked like a decent amount of water in the Salinas River at and just north of Paso Robles. Here is some info I just googled about the river, not sure how current it is: htt...

Re: Massive mayfly hatch

"Those who were around during the hatch recommend people “keep your mouth shut and kind of cover your nose,” Glen Siewer told WEAU-TV."

Yes, I would say so!

Re: Muddy waters

Couple years ago I hiked down to the FotK just after a thunderstorm had washed the ash from a recent fire into the Little Kern. Man, that little river was as thick as chocolate syrup. Anyway, it has seemed to recover pretty well.

Re: Knot Video--Davy Knot

Love this knot EZ PZ.

Also love that you can easily adjust the length of the tag/waste end as you tie it, so you don't end up wasting a lot of tippet.

Re: Wading Boots?

Hi John, I'll probably get sh*t for this, :-) but I use an old pair of $19.99 Walmart hiking boots that I bought years ago for working around the house. I'm sure there are better boots for slick-rock rivers like the Kern, but for everywhere else I've used them they've been fine. Heck, even on the Ke...
