Re: How is it that new toys can make me so happy...still!

Yeah, I've heard they really deserve the name 'Perfect'. Supposed to be pretty sweet to fish, especially paired with bamboo or older glass.

Re: How is it that new toys can make me so happy...still!

Since I don't buy any gear these days, I have no joy in my life. Heartbreaking, I know.  Please send me a pre-war Hardy so I can find happiness again. briansII Will a 1930 Hardy do? It's got a few scratches and has taken one on the chin a few times. http://www.lordheath.com/web_images/be...

Re: A River Runs Through It

Good stuff, Jon. I usually watch the movie at least once/year but it's been a couple years now. Probably been 3-4 years since I read the book last. Thanks.

Welcome, Ryan. Looking forward to your posts. Best of luck with the kid, too. Sounds like a fishing partner for years to come.

And raccoons as big as german shepherds. By far the largest and most numerous raccoons I have ever seen.

Re: owens river in winter

You might start here: http://sierratroutmagnet.com/reports/

Also, if you go up, stop in at the shop. Dave's a great guy and he and his crew are out on the water daily. He also checks in here from time to time.

Best of luck!

Re: Hello!

Blu! All is well I hope. If you've been doing any fishing out there, we'd love to read about it. I was just telling my dad about the homemade chorizo you and your brother brought up to Bishop a few years back. Good stuff.

Be well. :D

Re: Ocean kayak fishing

Hmm…and here my first thought was Why didn't the guy filming help out instead? It's funny, but I still don't understand not helping someone out. :oo:

I had been told they were there, Brian, but never seen them myself. Interesting to know it's true.

Re: Ever see a net like this?

Yes actually. I saw them years ago on some Japanese websites on trout fishing in Japan. Minus the finger hole thingie. I love the sweeping curves of them, but can't imagine them being handy except on small creeks. Here are few: http://www.bamboorodmaking.com/html/other_-_gordon_koppin.html http://hu...

Re: Knot Strength--Tippet to Fly

Thanks for that video Mike! I remember there was a discussion a few years ago here where someone mentioned the double davy knot. I asked then, but could not find nor was anyone able to provide any demonstration on it. I'd had the standard davy knot slip too often but the double had a good rep. Nice ...

Re: Fishing U Owens after rain?

If it's not thunderstorms, but just rain, do it. Rain can be good for fishing. Just like any other weather. :D
