Re: PONTOONS vs. FLOAT TUBES

The DMV is so full of it. Who makes up these rules? And these registration fees are on a yearly basis, correct...WOW I've been very busy, but i'm going to register my pontoon.......just as soon and I get my closet cleaned, and my tying desk organized.  If you do register your toon, DMV ...

Re: indicator vs. no indicator?

what are the advantages of fishing without an indicator? thanks guys It will get you closer to your God? ;) I will sometimes tease about using bobbers.....I mean indicators. In reality, I could care less. I have used them on ocassion, and often use a dry dropper setup. No biggie either way. O...

Re: Cardinal Sins of Fishing Partners

Pet peve..... Well in Golf - a lot of guys have 1000 dollar clubs and a 2 dollar swing... I think fly fishing is thee same way.... However, I am a gear junkie ( two 2wts, one 3wt, one 5wt, one fiberglass 7wt (6wt modern) one 8wt - and 14 old reels) My most expensive rod I purchased was the 3wt - I ...

Re: Cardinal Sins of Fishing Partners

IF I have one pet peeve, it's having to leave before the evening rise/bite. When fishing with a friend, I make a mental note, not to expect anything. While most of the guys I fish with are just as fanatical as I am, I also realize, not everyone wants to fish from dark, to dark. I share whatever, and...

Re: PONTOONS vs. FLOAT TUBES

BrainsII, what do you think of the OUTCAST DISCOVERY 9 STAINLESS-IR, on the outcast web site they retail for $850. I like the fact that it has stainless steel tubing for the salt water. The stainless steel would be a plus incase I decide on fishing in the bays. Thanks http://www.freesmileys.org/smi...

Re: PONTOONS vs. FLOAT TUBES

I have the Scadden, Skykomish Sunrise. http://www.northforkoutdoors.com/2008we ... 8pg17.html I have no complaints on the boat, but I do think I bought a toon, too long for my needs. When I purchased the boat, I thought I was going to use it to float larger rivers, like the Lower Sac. As it turns ou...

Re: PONTOONS vs. FLOAT TUBES

So far I have not been convinced not to get a potoon. I think the pros outweigh the cons thus far. The price sure does make me think about it though. Any other pros & cons about the toons or tubes. Thanks There are lots of "pros" to owning a pontoon boat. I think the biggest drawback ...

Re: PONTOONS vs. FLOAT TUBES

Toon (+) You can * out of them easier (-) More chit to spend money on Tube (+) Faster than a toon when racing back to camp in the wind (-) Hard, but not impossible to * out of. Only the beginning and end is messy You should have both, unless you're like a cripple or something. :D :D :D Very true. I...

Re: Pontoons

At that price, they're hard to pass up! :o ;) Check out the features to the higher priced toons. I think you'll see they are don't match up all that well, when it comes to the pontoon covering. Hard to say how the bladders stack up, but they do use a different material than the more expensive boats....

Re: The future of felt at Simms…

I'm very interested in the new Simms Aquastealths. I have the original LL Bean Aquastealths and they just busted a seam after 15 years of heavy use. You get what you pay for in boots. They may have improved the the traction even more with an improved rubber formula. Nice to hear a report on the new...

Re: Rendezvous Tournament on Kern

Dood! I finally got a hold of some of the Imperial Russian Stout. Had it on my last camping trip. O. M. F. G.! If you like big beers, and having stated that "The Stone beers are great", I must assume you do, then you may just love this beer. Dense flavor profile. Coffee, dark chocolate, b...
