Re: Hello

Welcome aboard. I'm a retired geologist (Getty-Texaco-Chevron) living just a little inland from you (Poway). I'm often in your neck of the woods standing on the beach with fly rod in hand. Since it's right in your back yard, so to speak, you should consider giving surf fishing a try. It's fun to tak...

Re: Light Weight Shooting Head?

In mild summer conditions at the beach (no wind, small surf) I love using my 4wt. I've got it loaded up with SA 150gr Wet-tip Express. Re: Lightweight hiking shoes?

No experience with Keens but I do love my Inov8 Roclite 295's. Nice wide toe box, very light weight and extremely sticky rubber lugged soles. They even have a decent stick on wet rocks.

Re: Fires in NC San Diego

Glad to hear that you are safe. it is crazy out there. Yesterday we saw smoke plumes to the north, west and south of us. Today it's just to the west as the San Marcos (Cocos) fire is still raging.

Re: California Heritage Trout Challenge

I'm half way there with a Coastal Rainbow, California Golden and a Kern River Rainbow. This year I hope to get a Little Kern Golden and a Lahontan Cutthroat. After that I'm not sure what my sixth species will be. I'll have to plan a trip up north to finish this off.
