Re: Short rods- 6'- 7'

When I fished a lot I fished a lot of small creeks. I eventually came to prefer the 7.5-8' length pretty dramatically over the 6-7ft lengths. My "explanation of my experience for why was basically this: 1. Longer tip section improved sensitivity/tippet protection. (having more rod overall meant...

Re: Forest service temporarily closes all SCNFs.

Who knows what may happen if all the USFS dispersed campers head to BLM lands? Let's hope they all refrain from "gender reveal" parties. John You know, I think the blue/pink reveal parties is a dumb trend overall... but whatever, to each their own. The problem was * using smokebombs/firew...

Re: Forest service temporarily closes all SCNFs.

They (FS) shoulda done this before labor day weekend, not after. I don't know. I want our public land to be open to public access as much as possible... but what has happened these last few days has seen forest resources stretched to the limit doing fire work, evac, etc... there simply isn't enough...

That's basically how I ended up getting the TXL 00790-3: fished with Justin's and then went on hunt for my own.

Re: Looking for a New #3wt

So, looking around - not seeing any used available. Will keep an eye. That said, I feel 8' is too short for what I want this rod for (Alpine lakes, larger water than my 7'10" TXL00). My go to rod for alpine lakes, GTW and other locals, is a 9' Sage Z-Axis 4 weight. Not quite what you are looki...

Re: Looking for a New #3wt

I'm looking primarily for a full rod. I have built one rod and found that enjoyable enough but all my stuff to do it is scattered in the wind and I don't want to start another hobby.

Re: Looking for a New #3wt

Is there an active fly fishing market besides ebay? Few rods and high prices on the bay these days.

Re: Looking for a New #3wt

Winston BIIt (Boron), 8 foot 3 weight. Nicest rod I ever cast in that category, but you would have to find a used one for that price range. Shortly after I bought mine I was fishing with Richard Cullip who cast it for a while. The next day he went out and bought one! :D So, looking around - not see...

Looking for a New #3wt

I've never been a rod-collector. I fish my Sage TXL #00 for basically all small water, and my TFO Finesse 8'9" 3wt for any larger lakes/rivers/etc... since the size/weight is pretty versatile, it has become my goto rod. But it has a problem. I hate it. I have always hated casting it. I find it ...

Re: Yellowstone river

Yes. There was a small pocket water there where we could see them stacked up. I was able to see maybe a dozen jumps and caught 2 videos, posted the better of the two.

watched for maybe a half hour.

Yellowstone river

Didn't end up getting much fishing squeezed into our yellowstone trip(a couple browns on Nez Perce, my son got a YCT on a rooster tail from the lake), but did catch this video from the yellowstone river:

Re: Easy-Access Yellowstone

With fishing bridge closed, reservations were really hard to come by. We'll do our best. Again, will be some sneak away fishing on a family vacation.
