Re: Darn Winds

I can fish heat, cold, rain, snow, fog, and biblical proportion plagues of insects (actually a good thing!). But this wind in SoCal is ridiculous. It's been sustained at the house at about 20-25' with gusts at 60. Guess I'll be an Internet troll and watch Tebow flop today instead. Quite the flop :r...

Re: Good Rain coat?

Hi Mike, I own three Marmot shells and love em! The Aegis and a windbreaker. The windbreaker is maybe ten years old and goes everywhere fishing, hiking, biking and in my fly vest. I waterproof it every six months. The Aegis is a heavier duty breathable waterproof shell with pit zips. It's my ski and...

Re: Backpacking Stoves

I usually hike with my kids or Scouts and love my Jetboil. Fast and easy using the Sumo cup for three people and Titanion solo cup when alone. The Titanium system only weighs 8.5 ounces and the morning coffee is ready before I'm done burying the morning's cathole :comfort:

Re: Triangular lines

I used them for steelheading while living in the PACNW. Great line for mending and roll casting big patterns. Not so great in the wind though!

Re: Flies for Casting for Recovery

Shane what outing are you speaking of? The location for casting for recovery has not been determined, but I have two places in mind which I've visited, both in the eastern Sierra. The retreat will possibly be held in September once the tourist season ends and pricing comes down. We are looking at C...

Re: blueflycafe.com

Surprised so many like their flies :? I mostly tie my own but last year made an emergency order for an unexpected trip. Nearly every Adams had the eye glued over which led to lots of cussing on the stream. Then the H&L Variants floated like rocks. The quality of materials was less than worthy an...

Thanks for the update and for sharing your family! I used to live six miles from that oyster company. Great place.

Many prayers!

Re: OMG New DFG Director

I already like this guy!!!!!!!! The forces are lining up to battle against his appointment.

Ranchers in Norcal, Klamath region, are freaking out and starting petitions against Bonham and his radical environmental views

Re: OMG New DFG Director

I'm just :bananadance: that a person with background experience with something to do with the OUTDOORS might get the position. Most appointees see Disneyland as the wilderness and are clueless about hunting, fishing, or even car camping for that matter.
