I'll add one more piece of advice. Don't mess with King Snakes.... they have a nasty bite. Not venomous, but really painful. They are super fast as well. I used to live in Lake Matthews (some of you 909'ers know this lake ;) ) and my house was right in the middle of the Kangaroo Rat preserve. I had...
Riverbum flies are great flies. Their service is good too. I had a package of flies arrive that looked like a truck had driven over it. Half the flies were gone. I emailed them with photos of the crushed package. They sent me a new order no questions asked. They have a lot of flies you can’t get any...
Zee, fish around the world fear you. Thanks for sharing. Larry Larry, If fish fear Zee they would flee when he would showup to fish. I think fish like Zee and want to hang with him. That is why he's so successful! You finally hit it dead on with Zee's relationship with the fishies. Mark a...

Here’s a little story and a trick you might try. Back in the days when I worked on the 6pak charter boats and had my own, if we were on a paddy that was holding fish and saw a boat coming towards us we would move off the spot. Most people would then move off in a different direction thinking there w...
When I used to work on 6 pac charter boats there were times that we would have to remove hooks from passengers who had impaled themselves or others. The hooks were a lot larger and always had a barb. The best way to remove them was to push the hook point through the skin and past the barb th...
If you are not going to use it any more sell it. At least that way you can buy more fly gear and maybe keep a local fly shop in business in these tough times!
Ariel, I do not care much for fast action rods. The Redington CPS is most definitely a fast action rod. Great for the casting games at the pond but I would not want one to fish with. What I look for in a fishing rod is something that will protect light tippets and still have some backbone to turn a ...
I have one. The problem I have with it is the height in the back support area. It is to high and makes it hard to move around in tight spots with waders. If it was not as high in the back I think it would be better for movement but you then give up back support. I do not use it for that reason any m...
Try this; take him on a backpack trip. Some how his rod breaks or gets lost. Offer to let him try your backup flyrod and show him how to cast and catch some fish on a dry fly. If that does not hook him on the joys of Flyfishing leave him up in the wilderness to ponder his own fate!!!
