Re: To Float or NOT to Float...

Yep. I get it, Bri...My only real CON is vulnerability . Its like trying to outrun a bullet - you cant - youre gonna get hit. Sitting in a tube, I'm going to feel vulnerable because I know that I cant out-paddle Sharknado... and I cant out-paddle the bridge if it collapses during that mega-quake we...

Re: To Float or NOT to Float...

Pros. Easily transportable. Easy access to fishing spots. Stealthy. Excellent, short range mobility. Mild to mid level(wind & current)cardio workout. Relatively inexpensive. Relaxing. Fun and SAFE. Cons. Limited fishing range. Limited bladder relief options. Not for folks afraid of the boogie ma...

Re: Wigged out... (a vent session)

It's natural to be a little nervous on your first trip, but there's nothing to be worried about. If I'm not mistaken, you'll have a PFD on, so there's even less to worry about. A float tube is a very stable fishing platform. You'd have to do something extraordinarily crazy to flip one. Even in waves...

Re: Sage X

Oh c'mon guys! This rod will have to have George Andersons blessing before you buy it! Um. No. ;) In all honesty, if I have the free time to read them, I find his annual reviews interesting. Not so much for his final rankings of the rods/reels, but for the baseline info(weight, flex profi...

Re: Sage X

Congrats on the new rod. Glade to hear a positive, firsthand review, and NOT some advertising hype. In no way am I interested in another fly rod, and in particular ANOTHER 8wt, but...... Last season I downsized from 9wts to 8wts for some of my striper fishing. It was surprising that I could immediat...

Congratulations!! That's awesome!

So the trailer was for all your fly fishing gear, but what did you do with all the house stuff?

Re: Suggestions for 4 piece 6/7/8 weight rod

Rods that *I* like in the 6-7wt range are. And since I have not been interested in a new 6-7wt in several years, most of these are discontinued. Scott STS. Sage XP. Sage SP. Winston BIIx. Redington CPS. St Croix Legend. Sage One. TFO BVK. Cabelas LSi. I've tried a bunch more, but these are the ones ...

Kudos To One Of Our Own.

I half expected NOT to get my Summer Edition of The Drake(running joke on poor distribution), but it arrived yesterday. I ripped the shipping plastic off, and flipped though the rag to find a specific story. Bunch of pages filled with stuff about trout, steelhead, permit, yadda yadda. You know, tras...

Re: The "BUCKET LIST"....

I recall having a Bucket List... Now I am happy anytime I get to wet a line. Same here. As time goes on, I'm finding less time to do "bucket list" type trips, and have to be happy with what I can do until I retire. Not to be a debbie downer, I'll list some stuff I'd like to do when I'm ab...

Re: Like the RP, SP and XP.......

That's an insightful preview, Jeff. Thanks for posting it! This caught my eye, especially the bit about "crisper tip-top." That's the region in Sage blanks giving me the most heartburn: ...greater blank recovery and a crisper tip-top, allowing anglers to dig deeper into the rod and access...

Re: Like the RP, SP and XP.......

BTW, the TCR isn't the stiffest trout rod I ever cast. Try the Temple Fork TiCRX!!!! Wow. Had one of the TiCR. It was too stiff. Sold it. :) But not before I used the snot out of it. Cork was shot. Ferrules were showing stress crack. Sent it in to TFO and they sent me a new rod.....then I sold it f...

Re: Like the RP, SP and XP.......

I haven’t purchased a new Sage rod since they discontinued the SLT line. I have no use for fast action rods because I only fish for trout, and I have that pretty well covered. For what it's worth, I think Sage's "fast action" rods peaked at their TCR series, and then gradually got softer....
