A creek/river called the arroyo in the town I live in very scenic, reminds me of smaller version of the LA river. That place is loaded with something. 3rd place is a small creek in the town...

Re: Because you have $$$ to Spend...

I struggle to pay that kind of money for a graphite rod, I can have a custom bamboo made for that price or a little more, or just look for a good fiberglass or older slower action graphite for a lot less money. At least for the a boo rod, I know I am paying for many of hours of time, craftsmanship a...

2 lost fly boxes- Kern R above Hospital Flat

I was in that area today did not see any boxes. I picked up trash there, but only found trash and a couple of trout. I had good luck on deeper pools with weight and 2 nymphs. I fell myself chasing down a fish. The Kern can be a hard place to fish. When I am not doing well there I try work a lot of w...

fly fishing bucket list/ What is yours?

I think I need to change my bucket list to include blue lines in metro areas that have a rustic concrete look to them. I did catch a carp years ago in the LA river so I might have already taken care of one pristine fishing spot on my new list. I should also add the pond in Rancho Simi park where I l...

Fly Fishing at Night

Make sure you are in a clear area so you do not need to worry about getting into trees or vegetation. I use larger patterns at night.

Welcome aboard, there are lots of great fly fishing in SoCal. Kern and Eastern Sierra are easy to get to. Watch out as the forum names states fly fishing can get addicting. Even just reason about others adventures brings on the fishing itch.

Looking for Love

I prefer 4 to 5wt on UO,EW, HC. I have a few big hogs out and would want something to handle bigger fish better and I can cast better with wind. Once I go to Rush, Convict, upper elevation lakes I like 3wt rod. If you start talking about rods in $800 range you might want to look at Bamboo like some ...
