Re: cane pole tenkara need answers fast!!!!

You should absolutely take it! I grew up fishing on 9-12 foot cane poles. In fact, I kept using it into my early teens because I was so much more efficient with it than an actual fly rod and reel. The water I fished rarely required a "cast" of longer than 15-20 feet, so I simply tied on so...

Re: To Dry Fly or Die?

Love this topic and really enjoy the dialogue taking place... My moniker on this site will tell you which way I lean on this one, but I'm not sure I have a really "deep" explanation as to why I prefer fishing the dry so much. All I can say, is that most of the time (when fishing for trout)...

Re: Getting Organized

Great point/suggestion/reminder, Mike. My fly inventory is much smaller than yours, but I do think I'll spend some time this winter organizing my gear in the garage. I've got a dedicated spot for everything, but now I need to put up some shelves/cabinets and start going through old stuff to see what...

Re: Newb here saying hello!

Hey Ryan- Welcome to the forum. I'm also a San Diego guy (Rancho Bernardo), and also have a 3+ year old son that's getting into fishing. It's tons of fun with the little guy! It sounds like you've got some experience locally with the fly rod under your belt, but if you're ever looking for tips on th...

Re: Good Soaking so far!

Some heavy showers overnight in Rancho Bernardo, and it's been raining non-stop since I got up at 6:00 this morning. Hopefully, some of this will get up to the mountains and help out the creeks and streams.
