Re: America's First National Park

Loooooooooove YNP. There are a few of my reports in the Rocky Mountain section of this website. Depending on how long this summer is gonna last, September should be a good time since the waters that warm up too much during the summer can be fished again, like the Firehole. If you're going to be ther...

Re: LA Times Article- Arroyo Seco Trout

...Now that I know I can break my neck on the trail on my MTB, I might go up there one of these days and see how far up I can go. Now I'm curious... 2 car shuttle - one car at JPL, take the bikes to Red Box, ride down to JPL... Yeah....see....the problem is, I just learned how to ride a bike. :bana...

Re: LA Times Article- Arroyo Seco Trout

Back in my day 50 years ago (you know when dinosaurs roamed the earth!) Arroyo Seco used to hold a decent population of small wild rainbow trout, and also was stocked on a regular basis with truck trout. Haven't been back there since then so I have no idea what it looks like now. That was one of th...

Re: LA Times Article- Arroyo Seco Trout

One thing to keep in mind is, that funds for restoration are part of a utilities/user groups "fee" for exploiting public trust resources. In most instances, a certain percentage of revenues for exploiting public trust resources, is part of the agreement to utilize those resources and can ...

Re: LA Times Article- Arroyo Seco Trout

Yes sir! I'm just curious what the end game is. It's almost like they're sending fish to the slaughter in the hopes a few survive, so they can say they live there, so they can push other items in their agenda. It's almost like the fish are being used as a human shield. I used to hear the stories of...

Re: LA Times Article- Arroyo Seco Trout

I was out there eating dirt on my newly acquired mountain bike, on the "San Gabrielino Trail" upstream of JPL.

It's hard to imagine this 'creek' holding any fish. Is this the same Arroyo Seco we're talkin about?

I've got a good pocket book called "Hatch Guide For Western Streams," by Jim Schollmeyer.

Re: Neoprene booty bunching in stocking foot waders

I even got mine On Sale! Looks like we had the same problem and found the answer in the same manufacturer! Got a pair of Gallegos for about 200 bucks 3 years ago and they have been bullet proof. As much as I used to make fun of the people who rock Patagonia as people who don't even know where Patag...

Re: Neoprene booty bunching in stocking foot waders

What John Harper said. "Good luck." I don't have the coin to drop on custom made waders, cuz I get mine off the Clearance Rack. And since I'm built like a bowling ball, it's hard to find waders off the shelf that will accommodate a 44 inch chest, and have an inseam of 28 inches, and have a...

Re: OLD posts...

That was pretty awesome, thanks for that! I used to post reports on a private message board that went dark. I wish I would've kept my reports. I put a lot of time into them! While I knew that there were a few local blue lines that I hadn't hit up, I was interested to see a few tributaries of the ker...

Re: The Water Explodes - how to land that fish

I think it's what you do beforehand is what increases your chances of landing that fish, and there's a lot of luck involved after the fish is hooked that you cannot control. I have a habit of not re-tying and checking my knots, especially when the bite is slow. I can't count the number of times I've...

Re: Forest service temporarily closes all SCNFs.

Welps, they just closed down Yosemite and because my trip is 3 days away, no refunds on my lodging in Oakhurst. 2020 continues to rear it's ugly head. So, any ideas of what I can do now? Perhaps a 4 hour drive to San Francisco and sight seeing? If Yosemite is closed, the trip over the mountain...
