Re: WFH?

I hate using the term "life changing," but this WFH has been that. I hope that ultimately more employers move towards this for employees who can work 100% remotely. I've gotten 4 hours of my day back thanks to the lack of commute. Anybody who has gone from the east side of the city all the...

WFH?

Hey,

Anybody been moved 100% remote for work?

Have you seen an uptick in days you spend on the water?

Is your management flexible enough to let you work from anywhere?

Re: LA River Delicacy

So, turns out these carp are feeding. :-D For $hits and giggles, I took a 5 weight with me this time, with a 3X leader, and some 'shad' flies. This time, instead of being so far out in the middle of the lake, the carp were in inches of water. I *think* they were picking off dead shad, because the sh...

Re: LA River Delicacy

Were they actually spawning or could they just be in feeding frenzy on a hatch? I have zero clue. I was stuck on shore and couldn't get a good look, but there didn't seem to be any hatch that i could see. More importantly, when the carp are feeding on the surface, you can see their lil round mouths...

Re: LA River Delicacy

Question? Do carp spawn in open water? Or do they come into the shallows? I was at a lake yesterday and there were hundreds of huge carp seemingly in the middle of the lake, with their backs slowly waking the surface. Mind you, this was 50+ meters out. Once in a while, one would implode and the fish...

Re: Fall Colors - Planning Ahead

A trip to some of the petroglyphs outside Bishop is well worth it. Drive north on 6 cross west on Chidago Canyon Road, to the Red Canyon petroglyphs, then take Fish Slough Road south back to Bishop. You pass the Chidago Canyon petroglyphs directly east of the road and when you get to Fish Slough th...

Re: Fall Colors - Planning Ahead

"There's an app for that." If you're familiar with how to use Google Maps, there is a person/organization that updates the Fall colors in the Eastern Sierra quite frequently during that time of year. I'll have the map available on my phone whenever I'm up there. https://www.google.com/map...

Re: Long Overdue Trip (Report)

Those rainbows are sure pretty. Nothing like a quiet fly fishing excursion when the fish are cooperating.

Re: Los Angeles Urban Fishing

Interesting article, I have seen a more people fishing LAR during the pandemic. I grew up a few blocks from Echo Park, and whenever we'd get tired of fishing there, we'd grab our bikes or skateboards and would ride down to Atwater and fish that stretch of 'river.' The tilapia were small, and the ca...

Definitely let us know how that goes. Haven't been down there in ages.

Last time I hiked down a good 3 to 4 miles and even got to an amazing waterfall.

Re: Is it Worth It?

As I enter my mid 40s, I realize that Im no spring chicken and the amount of off trail bush wacking is no longer something that I'll do on a constant basis. Im sure the usual haunts will hold some fish, but for me, the locals have finally gotten to the point where the initial investment is not worth...

Backpacking Alone - A Solitary Experience, Or Am I A Moron?

Happy New Year, So, it's not that I don't play well with others. I just like, uh, playing with myself? In any case, I have a few 2022 Bucket List items (Sumitting Whitney is one of them.) The other is approaching the Kern from a completely different path, and fishing upstream of the Painter Camp are...

Re: Where Did Everyone Go?

Guys, I have a confession to make. I've fished about....225 times this year. No lie. Now, the vast majority of times out have been at the local pond that's 5 minutes away from my house, but this 'work from home' life allows me to spend a lot of time on the water elsewhere. Now, the fly gear has been...
