David's shop in Bishop?

Where is David's shop located in Bishop and what's its name? I know it has probably been posted here several times but, I am too lazy to look for it. My brother-in-law lives across the street from where Barrett's use to be and he needs a new pusher for the addiction. Thank goodness there a new shop ...

Re: New World Record Brown

Gotta be from Arkansas again, that's a really huge brown!! RE: Upon reading the article I stand corrected it was not caught in Arkansas. On another forum, a guy posted he knew the previous record holder from Arkansas, and he wasn't upset at being eclipsed. Guess he knew it was coming. He commented ...

Re: Sept 18 Weekend

I'll be there Jon and with your swap rod. Show up and you will get to pick your own swap rod. That way I won't be responsible for picking a rod for you.

Re: Is it a skunk?

Papa, I'll buy you a beer and welcome you, with open arms, to "The Brotherhood of the Skunk". This post has been a blast. Its good to have some fun in a post and not have somebody take it personal. No matter what you call it, you got to wet a line. Its all good :D . I would like to have a ...

Re: Is it a skunk?

It is plain to me that much as the alcoholic lives in denial so to, the defendant in this case lives in denial as to the skunking he took. As much as I would like to continue this case with the overwhelming evidence for the proscution I can see no benefit to continung. Living in the shame of denial ...

Re: Is it a skunk?

The weak defense of the defendant clearly shows they have no case. By avoiding the situation and applying spin on said senarios clearly shows no true evidence in their defense. It is a glaring example of today's no responsibiliy for our actions lifestyle  . In todays world there is no loser, no...

Re: Is it a skunk?

Papa, sounds like selective reading to me ;) . I said swings at a pitch. Thus implying the ball was pitched to the catcher. A practice swing would be the equivalent to a false cast. You presented a fly via a cast onto the water, hence you swung at the pitch. I predict this debate may rage until all ...

Re: Is it a skunk?

Very nice rebuttal gentlemen. I say bravo to Castaway. The intent was there. And by the defendant's own admission he did make an attempt to defraud an unsuspecting victim. I ask you, which would be better? To get skunked on an occasional basis or be known as a fisherman who didn't research the water...

Re: Is it a skunk?

Ok, if the answer to the following question is NO when you weren't skunked ;) . If a batter swings at a pitch and misses, is it still a strike? :bananadance: And no a check swing doesn't count. Lawn casting is the only time not catching a fish wouldn't be a skunk. Trust me I know skunk, many times o...

Re: Is it a skunk?

JMHO: Hook in water + no fish = Skunk. I know it stinks but, that is the nature of the beast. Oh, no I didn't  Yep, it was Cheech & Chong's "Los Cochinos", Cheborneck. I had that album (that's right kids, vinyl) memorized in high school :bananadance:. Once my dad found out what th...

Re: purchasing flies on line

Nothing beats catching a fish on a fly you tied. Or better yet one you mooched off a friend :bananadance: If they are good ties go for it. For flies sold that cheap I would spend a little time adding some head cement. I'm with rayfound. My wallet tells me that tying my own flies isn't a great cost s...

Re: Sad ending for an incredible fish

I tend to agree with Rockstar. Even though I practice Catch and release I feel we do portray an elitist attitude toward people who keep fish. I find myself doing it. Who knows, I have kept that fish. But, then again I don't practice C & R when I hunt. Ok, say it, I must be an ego manic or neglec...

Re: My new bamboo rod - The good, the bad, the ugly

Might see if you can refit the ferrule. May be ok if you don't have to remove too many power fibers. If you are going to toss it, toss it my way. I am always looking for old boos to salvage for components. Have a boo I am redoing for a guy and I need some old guides ;)

Re: I got Boo Too

Blu, First off, if that tie by the handle is putting any pressure in the bamboo, untie it. Even a heavy section like that can get a set (bend) in the rod. I would be willing to bet that may be a 6/7 weight rod. Seems to par for the course on rods of that era. If there are enough guides remaining giv...
