Re: The San Gabes 2023 and beyond ...

"The experience is not the same..." - Well said. There is no shortage of stories, evidence, articles, conversations, that point to the negative. I have seen enough myself to not disagree with anybody. Safety on the roads is definitely a huge concern. Unbelievable how many people think that...

The San Gabes 2023 and beyond ...

Hello All, As some of you might know - my passion for So Cal's trout populations has had me recruited by CalTrout to play a unique role. As it defines itself (it's ever evolving), one of my roles is to help call to attention the move to expand the San Gabriel National Monument. Truthfully, like many...

Re: Shad Fishing in NorCal

Fun vid. Fished shad ONCE as a kid in the Yuba.
Great experience! In more recent years, I have seen big schools of them in Pyramid Lake (the one in So Cal).
Like the stripers, they made it down via the aqueduct.

About Water Volume

Here's an insightful entry from the California WaterBlog with regards to water volumes. In context of what has been happening with this wet season, crazy stuff like we have seen on the Kern, this is worth a read: https://californiawaterblog.com/2023/03/12/explaining-water-units-to-real-people-who-li...

Re: Derelict Dams - The Santa Monica Mountains Edition

There's only one way to find out! This year, my buddy is just biting the bullet and getting his boat tagged in late February and we're putting all of our eggs in one basket and rolling the dice on Cachuma for Spring. Gonna be definitely different being on an actual bass boat instead of the tin can....

Re: Derelict Dams - The Santa Monica Mountains Edition

Bernard, Have you ever ventured to the Santa Ynez in between Cachuma and Bradbury?
