Re: All California National Forests Closed

Got a refund, yesterday, for a wilderness permit mid September… 2nd year in a row. I understand why, but I am not happy about it. I am going in June next year!

I get it, the whole west is on fire. Still, it’s hard not to be bumme...

Re: Hmmmm...

Thanks for cleaning that up! I am pretty sure that guy has know about this website for a while now. If by chance Mr Berlin does read this I have to ask him... If your business is taking people to remote "hidden" locations to fish, how can it possibly help your business by listing these pla...

Re: 2wt vs 3wt: Is there a difference???

$.02 A few years ago when creeks used to have water near me, I always used a 2wt 80% of the time and a 4wt for certain spots for longer casts and nymphs/streamers. After using the 2wt the 4wt just seemed way to much rod for the creeks. I started taking a 3wt only because it is easier to switch 50/50...

Re: Kern River Fly Fishing Forum

Sorry for de-railing this topic... Nothing personal, not trying to pick any fights, just trying to be funny ( it was not). My mistake was my choice of words "your church tells you" I see how it would been taken personally. I should have written "what religion tells it's followers"...

Re: Kern River Fly Fishing Forum

If you are an IPA snob; the answer depends on how many you have had to drink. If you are a conservative; the answer is 10. If you are a progressive; "What difference does it make" Hope this helps! If you are a conservative; just repeat what your church tells you without question...

Re: Fly fishing from a kayak: any tips?

Just to echo what most everyone has said, yes get an anchor! Although in fresh water you can sometimes tie up to the reeds/cattails when fishing close to shore. I have fished from Kayaks in the bays a few times and it is a blast... Wife and daughter last summer... http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums...

Re: Parking pass questions

My local trailhead a few miles east... http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/h324/Tmanson001/image_zps075cbfcc.jpg ;) It does make me feel warm and fuzzy to pay fees that pay someone to see if I paid my fees. I understand it the same way. If I just pull off a dirt road I do not need it, but if there a...

Re: Light Weight Shooting Head?

I bought a spool of amnesia and rio t-14 for my 8 wt and have been messing around with it here and there in the surf, bay, and lakes on and off for about a year. This is my first setup and when I do it just right I can cast almost twice as far as with regular fly line. ( of course when it does not g...

In praise of the otter box

So here I am with the wife and kids out of state in the middle of our spring break vacation that for the most part has nothing to do with fly fishing. However, I purchased a one day license and had a few hours alone the other day to fish in a new place. A couple years ago I bought a waterproof camer...
